As the world eagerly anticipates the Paris Olympics 2024, Team India is set to make a formidable appearance with a robust team of athletes across multiple sports disciplines. The Indian contingent, consisting of 117 athletes along with a substantial support staff and officials, is poised to showcase their prowess in 16 sports disciplines, promising an exciting chapter in India’s Olympics history.


The Indian team’s participation spans a wide range of sports, demonstrating the country’s growing diversification in athletic competencies. The largest groups are in athletics, with 29 competitors, followed closely by shooting and hockey, with 21 and 19 athletes respectively.

  • Neeraj Chopra – The golden boy of Indian athletics, Chopra is a strong contender in men’s javelin throw, carrying the hopes of a billion after his historic gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

  • PV Sindhu – A household name in badminton, Sindhu's resilience and skill make her a formidable opponent in the women's singles category.

  • Mirabai Chanu – Her prowess in weightlifting has consistently put her on the global map, making her one of the top prospects in the women’s 49kg category.

  • Lovlina Borgohain and Nikhat Zareen – These two pugilists have risen through the ranks in women's boxing, and their participation in the 75kg and 50kg weight classes, respectively, are keenly watched for podium finishes.
